Book Review: Seasonal Affective Disorder for Dummies

Seasonal Affective Disorder For Dummies

I have to admit winter is my worst time of the year. Especially in Northern Ohio. All I want to do is to hibernate until spring time comes. It is dark and gloomy most of the time. And the snow. Back in the south we did not have snow such as you see in the north. My first winter here I thought I would die. Last year wasn’t so bad because we didn’t have much of a winter. I am taking no chances on this year though. This is the year I decided to beat Seasonal Affective Disorder once and for all.

This book has lots of helpful advice. Eben some I have not thought about. Like when you are having and anxiety attack to  duck your face in ice water. I will have to try that trick. It also gives you ways to reframe your thinking. Instead of thinking oh crap I have to go out in the cold and snow to get to my car then wait for it to warm up. You can think the cold has an interesting sensation on my face and I can listen to my favorite radio station while waiting for car to thaw. I have already started my reframing for the winter. I hope it works as well as the book proposes.

If you are looking for some good techniques to get you through the winter I would recommend this book.
