Sunday Post

Off the Blog

If you have been following along with my knee saga, then you will be happy to hear that they are almost pain-free. I am not sure what exactly made them get better. Maybe all I needed to do was rest, or perhaps the therapy helped or perhaps the shit ton of neopraxon or whatever it is killing the pain. I don’t really care at this point. I am just happy that they are 95 percent pain-free.
Yesterday after 4 long months I returned to the gym. Everyone was happy to see me. They told me to start out slow again so I wouldn’t hurt my knees or anything else for that matter. Still, no one knows exactly WHY I had so much inflammation in my knees. I kind of wish that I understood why so I can avoid it in the future but oh well.
Speaking of exercise, I have tried excreting with an audiobook, and I just can’t seem to do it. I have some workout music that I listen to on Spotify and that I have no trouble with. If I try to listen to a podcast or an audiobook though I can’t really focus and either I am not exercising hard enough, or I lose my place in the book. I am jealous of the people that can listen to podcasts and Audiobooks and exercise at the same time.
I wrapped up a HUGE client project last week and celebrate me getting out of poverty I bought myself a Fitbit. And I did not have t order the cheapest one! I am not even engaging in hyperbole. I really was on SSI for years after I had a psychotic break in 2007. Then it took around three tears to get my writing off the ground. Buuuut now I am officially back in the middle class! Everyone is nervous as no SSI means no Government insurance. I can get special permission to enroll in the marketplace early. I was under the impression that it was AFFORDABLE health care. It is probably affordable to the likes of Obama but the rest of us not so much. My mother is a glutton for punishment and figured up what I would be paying for insurance and meds a month, and I almost shit my pants when she gave me a dollar amount,
I also do not have a section 8 anymore. After mulling it over, I decided to move back in with my parents for a few months save some money then become a digital nomad. That is the plan so far anyway. I am moving out of this sea of human misery on the 25, so I have been doing a lot of packing and downsizing. It is said that if you want better new things to happen, you have to get rid of the old, so that is what I am doing.

Books read last week.

Grit-This is fascinating to look at how some people who seem unlikely to succeed do. It all comes down to you guessed it, grit. Review coming later this week
Half Assed– A tell it like it is weight loss memoir. Review coming this week

What I plan to read this week

The Four Tendencies– I loved all of her other books so I want to read this one and figure out I can get my ass in gear regarding exercise and sticking to my eating plan #kiddingnotkidding
Check These Out– I love books that tell you about other books. I looked through it at Ollie’s and I saw a few that  loved so I bet this book will be chock full of books I will like
Neanderthal Seeks Human– I started this a while ago and never got around to finishing it. I picked up the audio because I have a shit ton of packing to do this week and need something that will make it less tedious.
Miracle Morning for Millionaires– I have read The Miracle Morning and The Miracle Morning for Writers and I liked both. I actually set up my morning routine based off The Miracle Morning. I admit my reading the Millionaire one is more of curiosity than anything else.
The Theory of Second Best-Another Audiobook to making packing go faster. I read Cake and OMG it was so good!

Things that made me happy last week

Getting out of poverty!

Being able to work out again

Glad to hear your knees feel better. I hope they stay that way! I love naproxen for my pain. It is the only thing that works on me.

  3. I’m glad your knees are feeling better. I listen to podcasts while I run, but when my legs start hurting, I get distracted and miss bits of them. I have to rewind pretty often.

Do you have a marketplace enrollment center near you? Those people saved my (financial) life. The meeting took a few hours, but they found me insurance I could afford. They were really friendly, too.

I did not even know they had those kinds of places for the semi-affordable health insurance. I will have to check one out.

  4. It’s reading things like this that make me so grateful for our NHS (I’m in the UK)… It’s full of problems, sure, and needs overhauling but you never need to worry about not being able to access healthcare.
