Tampa: A Book Review

I had heard about the book Tampa. When a book has that much hype I get worried that it wont live up to it. In this case, I need not have worried. I started reading and was capitulated into the head of Celeste Price. Celeste is a woman who is attracted to 14 year old boys. She takes a job as a 8th grade teacher to have access to the boys she wants to seduce.
There is no build up here. The book gets right to the point, and we are able to see inside a predators head. As I read on I wondered if she really was the predators many made her out to be, It is not like she forced the boys into anything. They were willing once they found out that she would sleep with them. She did not beat or torture them. Only the age difference made this story somewhat uncomfortable. As I read I was somewhat horrified but then I starting analyzing the situation, and while it was uncomfortable, it did bring up many good questions on what is “rape”. I know that 14 is way to young to give consent if the person is over age 18 but still.
I and many other that I read WERE horrified by the strength of her sexual feelings. Also if it was a man with a 14 year old girl I know I would totally be screaming rape. So I admit I am biased. It has been a few days, and I still am unsure of where I stand on the issue.
I do know one thing, this book is totally worth reading if for the entertainment factor alone. I read it in a couple of hours, and after I put it down all I could think of was DAMN that was a good story. I only hope she is busy writing another book. Nutting will definitely go on my favorite author list.
