WATERING HEAVEN: A Book Review

watering heaven

This is a fantastical book of short stories. The deal with love, work place satisfaction and self discovery.

These are not just ordinary stories though they have that touch of magical realism that takes the reader on an adventure through China and the US.

For example there is one story that has the girlfriend laying an egg every time she has sex. There is another story about the mayor of a small town wanting to kill all the rats to get re-elected.

I really enjoyed these stories they were fast paced always moving forward. They was never an lull in any of the stories.

One problem with short stories is that some stories can be duds but this was not the case in this book. The author is creative  and manages to write a collection of stories all of worth reading.

I found this to be a refreshing way to look at everyday problems. In the story of the mayor wanting to get re-elected for example we can see how some people would stand up to what they thought was oppressive behaviors. In this story the Mayor is wanting to kill all of the rats but a man thinks that the rats should have a chance at life too so he makes a documentary showing how cruel the rat poison is. We can see in a new light how some people will stand up for groups or things that other find revolting. I myself never thought of it that way but the author has shown me other way of thinking things through.

I highly recommend this book. It is worth the read. It is a book that you will come back to again and again to peel off different layers of all the stories.

This book was provided by the author for my own honest opinion.
