The Sunday Salon

My blog was down for a week but now it is back up. That will teach me to make sure my credit card is the most current one on file. Oh well, hopefully I did not lose TOO many subscribers.

I came up with one of my “bright ideas” yesterday. I have been reading about reading/writing retreats and I thought why not take my parents RV and have my stepdad haul it to a campground in KY with no WiFi and spend a week just reading and writing? I texted my mom and she was like well, if you can stand being without WiFi for a week you are welcome to the RV. This idea both scares the shit out of me and enthralls me. I will probably end up doing it. I just gotta decide when I want to go.

I have been thinking about my goals this year and the habits that I want to build. My other hobby is being a gamer so I found HabitRPG. It is a habit building site. It is based on the philosophy of games. I thought it was interesting. I want to read the book “Better than Before” by Gretchen Rubin but my library does not have it yet. Booo

It seems my writing has come to a standstill. I quit smoking and I have it in my head that I need a cigarette to write. This blog post feels like pulling teeth. I just got to keep pushing through it and hopefully soon I won’t have the urge to light up at the end of every sentence.

Spring STILL has not arrived here in Northeastern Ohio. I read about everyone going swimming and such and it is still mostly in the 40’s here. Brrr. I am sure it will arrive EVEDENTUALLY I just wish it would hurry up so that I can read and write outside. My mom was Gchatted me that it was a beautiful spring day and I was all like be quiet. I guess that what I get for moving up north!

I am starting The Artist Way this week. I had the book in forever so I thought what better time to sit down and work through it. It is 12 week course that is supposed to free the writer within. We shall see how it goes!

  1. Personally I think getting away from wifi for a week sounds great. I’d love to be able to have the time to write, read, and reflect.

For me, what’s working in terms of an app for habits is a simple app: TickTick. I’ve tried other habit apps, but they don’t seem to work for me. Of course, that doesn’t mean I won’t check out HabitsRPG too. 🙂

The biggest thing about HabitRPG is that it hasa steep learning curve. It does have a wiki to go with it tho.
